Blog post #7 the finals

Quonedell Brown
Since I was younger, I have always been in interested in the way the world works. I began asking my teachers questions about our enviorment. I have always been eager to learn about the people, places and things around me. One place that I was most interested in as a child was the Artic. I was always so fascinated about the cold weather, the animals and the people who live there. As a child, I knew very little about global warming. It was not till i entered the 5th grade and learned about humans impacting global warming. In my series of paintings my theme is global warming, the most impacted animals. In all of these pieces there are warm colors. The color scheme is to unify all of the pieces. The warm colors help the viewers eye move from painting to painting and within. The warm colors in the painitngs are supposed to refrence the theme of global warming. I want my viewers to look at my painting and know that they are conveying an ending.
The summer of the Polar Bear
The painting of the Polar Bear smiling, in a happy mood with a sunset in as a background is supposed to communicate the happiness of the polar bear while still here on earth. In the background is the sunsetting, the sunsetting is suopposed to convey a termanintion. A termination of the Polar Bears. While working on this piece I used two diffrent techniques when I started this piece I was just layering acrylic paint. I began to notice that layering acrylic paint was making the picture look like waves. I decided to change my technique to dry brushing the image. Dry brushing made the image look more surreal.

The Penguins who morned

The images of the two penguins on oppisite sides with their heads bowed down is suppose to convey some sense of sorrow and grief. The background of the painting is blue. Blue is to connect to the sea. The sea is home to the penguins its where the Penguins feel most comfortable. Now there home is decaying from the rising seas due to global warming. On the cheek bones of the Penguins is faded warm colors that look like a sunset. the colors on the penguins cheek bones is to connect to the theme of global warming. I used acrylic paint and applied it on thick to make texture as if it was an oil painting.

Oil Clouds

The power plant emitting Co2 into the air on the lake front. The background with a dark blue sky and the sunsetting connects the piece to the other pictures. the picture is suppposed to convey the darkness and tragedy of people emitting green house gasses. Green house gasses is the reason for global warming it continuies to heat up our athmosphere. i used the technique of layering to build up the color of the paint.
