Where has quone been?

This piece Describes in many ways where I've been as an artist. First i drew what a tiger pattern because i tiger represents loyalty, courage, power, and wisdom. when i first started off as an artist  at BAA i came in very  truthful to my art i had a big passion for it. art was my life. The wisdom represents the wisdom that i want to gain when i mature into my art.

Why did i use gold? The reason for me using gold is because, gold represents wealth and power; which is where i want to be in the future.
what made me so interested in tigers? Tigers have always been one of the most beautiful creatures in the world.
What made me put leafs in the background? The reason being for me putting leafs in the background is to make the picture feel more of a jungle aura.

  1. My favorite part of this piece are the leaves behind the painting. I agree with you that putting the leaves there do make your painting look more jungle like. I also like how you connected the tiger like features to what your art life is right now. It gives me a clear idea at where you want to go in life.

  3. Quondell, I really appreciated your process to create this piece as I noticed you did not go with your first idea but kept refining as you went along. You kept pushing yourself to a place that was conceptually strong in that it had multiple layers of meaning.

I do wish you would write more about what you talked about in your critique. We discussed how colors and animals have different meanings in different cultures are you were able to articulate where you had done your research.

A few questions, can you clarify the desire to have a "jungle aura"? How does that relate to you as an artist? You mention several characteristics that the tiger represents but only touch on 3 (wealth, power, and wisdom). How do loyalty and courage relate to your artistic journey?

Thank you for creating and sharing this piece. I look forward to witnessing your growth this year.

  4. I really like the symbolism you used with the tiger and how you identified yourself with it. I think it's really unique. The fact that you zoomed in made me get focus on the pattern and details. It was very creative to put leaves around, they look beautiful!
